lettersou r fr om re ad e rs demonstrated in the pieces featured at the ikat show garnered awe from weavers, tourists and textile lovers during its D.C. run. In October, I also attended the Smithsonian's Craft2Wear Show, held at the National Building Museum, where I so admired the innovation and skill of some of America's finest craftspeople. If only I had the income to match my wish list, my closets and drawers would be filled with items from that show. Please keep up the fine quality of your magazine as each issue elevates our appreciation for the many outstanding craftspeople in America. Kathy Megyeri Washington, D.C. beautifying our lives I have been a subscriber for many years, starting when my husband noticed how much I enjoyed my casual purchases, and subscribed as a gift. My interest is mainly in wearable textiles, but I love to look at all the other articles, too. Much modern craft has pretensions to be "art" and seems to forget the joy of meticulous work and aesthetic pleasure (resulting, in my field, in raggy garments in muddy colors) in pursuing conceptual cool. The artists you feature are often conceptually interesting, but what I appreciate most is seeing their skill, care and devotion to beautifying our lives. Christine Wheeler Applecross, Australia maggie meister cover feature What a thrill to receive the current issue, Volume 36, No. 1. As an amateur beader, I am a big fan and an advocate for Maggie Meister and I was so happy to see her work featured in Ornament. Her work is thoughtful, intelligent and beautifully executed. Her concepts are completely original and the objects are stunning. She has set an aspirational standard for us all. Thank you for celebrating her work. I hope you will continue to recognize those who are true artists among the beadwork community. I also love Ornament. I have been a subscriber since its inception, and I have every issue.
