71 ORNAMENT 35.5.2012 announcements & events OREGON THE SOCIETY OF NORTH AMERICAN GOLDSMITHS announces its crafthaus scholarship. Crafthaus members thirty years old and younger can apply to receive a fee waiver for the SNAG conference, a one-year membership to both SNAG and to crafthaus, and prominent blogspace on crafthaus for one year. Applications are due by January 10, 2013. The recipient must have finished their education and be in the field of jewelry or metalsmithing. www.snagmetalsmith.org. PENNSYLVANIA THE PHILADELPHIA MUSEUM OF ART CRAFT SHOW hosts its thirty-sixth annual show from November 8 – 11. The show is presented annually by the Women's Committee and Craft Show Committee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art for the benefit of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Funds raised are used to purchase works of art and craft for the permanent collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, to fund conservation and publication projects, and to support exhibitions and education programs. One hundred ninety-five craft artists in the United States, in the disciplines of baskets, ceramics, fiber decorative and wearable, furniture, glass, jewelry precious and semiprecious, leather, metal, mixed media, paper, and wood will display their work. For this year's foreign contingent, artists from Britain will be the visiting guests. www.pmacraftshow.org. WASHINGTON, D.C. THE SMITHSONIAN CRAFT2WEAR SHOW takes place October 26 – 28 at the National Building Museum. The forty exhibitors have all previously been juried into the Smithsonian Craft Show. Jewelry and clothing will be on sale from a number of the country's best wearable craft artists. Craft2Wear is produced by the Smithsonian Women's Committee to support education, outreach and research at the Smithsonian Institution. www.craft2wear.smithsonian.org. GREAT BRITAIN THE GOLDSMITHS' COMPANY hosts its annual Goldsmiths' Fair from September 24 – 30 and October 2 – 7. Over a period of two weeks one hundred eighty jewelers and silversmiths present their latest designs and collections to an ever-expanding audience. There is jewelry and silver for every occasion and in a wide variety of styles and permutations, each piece reflecting the unique creativity and artistic personality of the individual designer-maker working in precious metal. This year, the Goldsmiths' Fair celebrates its thirtieth anniversary, also known as a "Pearl" anniversary. The fair will take place at the Goldsmiths' Hall. www.thegoldsmiths.co.uk.
