CRAFT IN AMERICA STUDY CENTER presents Redefining the San Andreas Faultline: 10 Women Jewelers, from September 8 through October 27, 2012. The show, curated by Carolyn L. E. Benesh, Ornament Coeditor, demonstrates California's creative edge in art and design; and how it is exemplified by the distinguished handwork of a diverse group of women who are challenged by their work, experimenting and redefining the possibilities of jewelry in the second decade of the twenty-first century. The artists from Northern California include Barbara Berk, Harriete Estel Berman, Petra Class, Karen Gilbert, and Carol Webb. Representing Southern California are Alexandra Hart, Marianne Hunter, Valerie Mitchell, Marne Ryan, and Christina Smith. The Study Center is a research and resource project by Craft in America, with Carol Sauvion as Executive Director.
